How do I properly clean the awning?

The awning needs to be cleaned on the inner side of the fabric, where we can apply running water or a special cleaning solution without corrosive substances, chlorine, etc. If we have access to the top part with a hose and running water, we can rinse off any dirt or debris that has settled or stuck to the fabric.

In apartment buildings, ask the neighbor living directly above you to allow access to their balcony so you can clean the awning with water and a broom with an extension. Pressure washers should not be used, as they can damage the fabric’s waterproof coating. Always make sure never to retract the awning while it is wet.

Choose a sunny day and let the awning dry for at least 24 hours. For the metal parts, a suitable detergent can be used depending on the type of awning. Never pour water on the electrical components or automation systems (motor and sensors), as they can be damaged. Finally, professional cleaning companies can be consulted to properly lubricate the moving parts of the awning.
